You saw “App blocked to protect your device”?
É o Google Play Protect. In some countries, it blocks the installation of any app downloaded outside the Play Store that asks for Accessibility. The PlayTVi with Remote Access asks for this permission because it's what lets you control the screen remotely from the dashboard. The app has no virus: it just needs one approval on the device.
Don't need remote access? O Main PlayTVi doesn't ask for Accessibility and installs without this block.
Is the app already installed and you want to turn on remote control? Go straight to Accessibility.
Three steps to get your screen ready
Do them in this order. Menu names vary a little between manufacturers; the guides below show each type of device.
Turn off Play Protect scanning
In the device's Google Play: account photo → Play Protect → gear icon → turn off “Scan apps with Play Protect”.
Guide by device →Install the app with Remote Access
Download at connect.playtvi.com.br/apk/#remoto. If the screen already has PlayTVi, install over it: the pairing is kept.
Download the app →Turn on remote control
Under Settings → Accessibility, enable PlayTVi - remote control. Doesn't show up? The screen has PlayTVi without remote access: install the app with Remote Access over it.
See Accessibility →From the block warning to remote control turned on
Play Protect, installation, update and Accessibility in order, for phones, tablets, TV boxes and Android TV.
How to turn off Play Protect scanning
Choose your device. The animation shows each screen; click a step in the list to jump straight to it. With scanning turned off, open the PlayTVi file again and tap Install.
Phone, tablet and touch monitor
Applies to the current Google Play (Android 8 and up). It's exactly the path from the “App blocked to protect your device” warning.
- Does the Play Protect warning show only the button Got it? Tap Got it: let's unlock it.
- Open Google Play and tap your account photo, at the top right.
- In the account menu, tap Play Protect.
- Tap the gear icon ⚙ at the top right.
- Turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.
- Confirm with Turn off.
- Go back to the PlayTVi file (browser, Downloads or WhatsApp) and tap Open.
- Tap Install. Now the installation goes through without a block.
- Done: tap Open and enter the activation code shown in the dashboard. Then, turn on Accessibility.
TV box with Google Play
Many TV boxes use the phone version of Google Play, with the three-line menu. Use the remote or a mouse. TV boxes without Google Play usually don't have Play Protect: just allow installation from unknown sources when the device asks.
- On the home screen, open the Play Store.
- Select the ☰ (three lines) menu, next to search. In the new version, it's the account photo.
- Choose Play Protect.
- Select the gear icon ⚙ at the top right.
- Turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.
- Confirm with Turn off.
- Open the PlayTVi file from the Explorer or browser and choose Install.
- App installed: Open and enter the activation code.
Android TV and Google TV
TVs and sticks with Google's TV system (TCL, Philips, Sony, Xiaomi, Chromecast with Google TV and others). The path changes depending on the TV's Android version.
- Android 11 or newer: open the Google Play on the TV and select the profile photo, at the top right.
- Choose Play Protect.
- Select the gear icon ⚙ (Settings).
- Turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.
- Confirm with Turn off.
- Android 10 or older: on the home screen, open gear (Settings).
- Go to Apps (on some TVs, Device Preferences).
- Open Security & restrictions and select Verify apps.
- Leave Verify apps off, and under Unknown sources, allow the app you use to install.
Samsung phones and tablets
Starting with One UI 6, Samsung has its own lock in addition to Play Protect: Auto Blocker. Turn both off.
- Open Settings → Security and privacy.
- Tap Auto Blocker.
- Turn off the switch for Auto Blocker.
- Confirm with Turn off.
- Back in Security and privacy, tap App security → Google Play Protect.
- Tap the gear icon ⚙ and turn off Scan apps with Play Protect and confirm with Turn off.
- Open the PlayTVi file and tap Install.
Installers and fleets: install via ADB
For those preparing many devices. Installing via ADB doesn't go through this Play Protect block, and one extra permission enables remote control without touching Accessibility.
- On the device, enable USB debugging / ADB in Developer options (many TV boxes already come with network ADB on).
- On the computer, connect:
adb connect IP-DO-APARELHO - Install or update:
adb install -r PlayTVi.apk - Enable control:
adb shell pm grant com.playtv.player android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Did a different message appear?
Warning with “More details”
Tap More details and then Install anyway (or “Install without scanning”). You don't need to turn anything off.
Unknown sources
Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source and go back. This only applies to the app you used to open the file (browser, WhatsApp, Explorer).
App not installed
There's already another PlayTVi on the device, from another brand or a test version. Contact support before uninstalling: the screen will need to be paired again with the dashboard code.
How to turn on “PlayTVi - remote control”
It's what lets you tap, use the arrow keys and type on the screen through remote access from the dashboard. Do it once and it stays on. If PlayTVi doesn't show up in the Accessibility list, start with the first tab: the app needs to be updated first.
TV box with Android 7 to 12
Done with the device's remote control.
- On the TV box home screen, open Settings.
- Scroll down to Accessibility. On some models it's under More settings or Advanced.
- Under Services, choose PlayTVi - remote control.
- Turn on Use service.
- Confirm with OK.
- Go back to PlayTVi with the button Home. The schedule continues as normal.
Android TV and Google TV
Use the TV remote.
- At the top of the home screen, open the gear (Settings).
- Go to System (Google TV) or Device Preferences (Android TV).
- Open Accessibility.
- In services, choose PlayTVi - remote control.
- Turn on the option and confirm with OK.
- Go back to PlayTVi. Ready for remote access.
Tablet, phone and touch monitor with Android 13 or higher
Apps installed from outside the store need an extra approval before turning on Accessibility. On Android 7 to 12, skip steps 3 to 5.
- Open Settings → Accessibility.
- Under Downloaded apps, tap PlayTVi - remote control.
- When you try to turn it on, Android warns “Restricted setting”. Tap OK.
- Go to Settings → Apps → PlayTVi and tap the menu ⋮ in the top corner.
- Tap Allow restricted settings and confirm with the device PIN or pattern.
- Go back to Accessibility, turn on PlayTVi - remote control and tap Allow.
- Done: in the dashboard, Screens → (i) → Remote access shows the live screen, with control.
Questions about installation
Does PlayTVi have a virus? Why did Google block it?
No. Since 2024, in some countries Google blocks every app installed from outside the Play Store (via browser, WhatsApp or file manager) that asks for permissions used in scams, such as Accessibility. The block looks at the permission, not the app. PlayTVi uses Accessibility only for the remote access you open from the dashboard.
Why isn't the app with Remote Access on the Play Store?
Google Play doesn't accept apps that use Accessibility for remote control. That's why the app with Remote Access is distributed directly from the official address connect.playtvi.com.br/apk/#remoto. The main PlayTVi doesn't use Accessibility.
Do I need to keep Play Protect turned off?
On a device dedicated to a digital signage screen, we recommend leaving it off: that way updates to the app with Remote Access made from the dashboard install without problems. If you turn it back on, Play Protect may warn about the app again and block the next update.
Which warning asks me to turn it off, and which doesn't?
The “App blocked to protect your device” warning, with only the Got it button, requires turning off Play Protect scanning. The “Blocked by Play Protect” warning with “More details” lets you install right there, under More details → Install anyway.
PlayTVi doesn't appear in Accessibility. Now what?
The screen has PlayTVi without remote access. Remote access is a separate app: download it at connect.playtvi.com.br/apk/#remoto and install it over the current one (the pairing is kept). The dashboard's Update button keeps each screen on the app it already has, so it doesn't install remote access.
Does updating the app erase the schedule or the pairing?
No. The update installs over the current app and keeps the pairing, the settings and the media already downloaded.
Do I need to turn on Accessibility again with every update?
No. Once it's on, it stays on in future PlayTVi versions.
I'm installing many devices. Is there a faster way?
Yes: install via ADB (adb install -r PlayTVi.apk), which doesn't go through this block, and grant the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission. Remote control is enabled without touching Accessibility. See the Installers tab.
Still stuck on a step?
Send a photo of the device's screen on WhatsApp and the PlayTVi team will help you. Once it's installed, see everything you can do with remote access.
